Upside Down ~ A Workshop of Inverted Asanas with Erika Lima
Overcoming fear and self‐imposed limitations is an important step for developing an inversion practice.
We will address our personal challenges, study the basics of the poses, explore variations and discover
the benefits of going upside down. Inversions are a natural anti‐depressant: they lift the mood, create a
sense of well‐being, and benefit the circulatory system, keeping the heart and lungs healthy. Inversions
also strengthen the immune system, help with varicose veins and edema, regulate metabolism, regulate
the thyroid, and help with memory.
experience a sense of lightness and freedom every time you invert
build core and upper body strength
sharpen your focus, concentration and memory
balance hormone levels and revitalize your entire body
increase your overall stamina.
We will break down Supported and Tripod Headstands, Forearm Balance, and Handstand, using walls,
partners, props, and variations. Upside Down is an excellent opportunity to learn the full poses outside
of the regular group flow classes, and to deepen your practice with focused assistance to gracefully go
upside down in a playful, controlled, and focused manner.
A willingness to try something new and exhilarating is a must!
